History
Loyola College was founded in 1925 by a French Jesuit, Rev. Fr. Francis Bertram SJ, with the support of a group of Jesuits who had their grounding at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, and the London School of Economics. When it was started it was of the St.Joseph’s society, Tiruchirapalli, a society registered under the societies registration Act of 1860 (Registration No. S 228 of 1973) having its registered office at Tiruchirapalli. Later in 1973 the newly registered Loyola College Society took over the Loyola College with all its properties. Apart from providing world class learning environment for students, Loyola engages its faculty and enroll students in Scientific Research by providing infrastructure and other support services

Loyola College Society (LCS) located at Chennai Tamilnadu, India is the legal body that owns and manages world class Educational Institutions like Loyola College( Autonomous), Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA), Loyola College of Education (LCE) and Loyola ICAM College of Engineering and Technology (LICET). LCS is managed by Jesuits, a world-wide catholic Religious Organization. The Jesuits own and administer world class universities all over the world. LCS is a Society duly registered under the Societies Registration Act 1975( Act XX1 of 1860) with Registration No 228 of 1973. The Registered Office of LCS is located in Loyola Campus at Nungambakkam, Chennai -600 034, India. Loyola college Society is also exempted under Section 12(A)a of the Income tax Act 1961 as a Charitable Educational Institution providing wholistic education to all sections of the Society at large.videC.No .212(801)/1973 order dated 27.05 1974 of the Commissioner of Income Tax Madras -34 . Besides the above Loyola College Society is also registered with Ministry of Home affairs Government of India under FCRA Act 1976 and rules made thereunder vide RegistrationNo.075820005 DATE : 09.01.1985.
